We’ve made a few changes to the Milk and Honey site over the last few days. We wont bore you with the techno babble but you may find that some of the links from Google searches or on this site may not work when browsing through to the online shop. It should only be a matter of time before these are re-indexed and updated..!

Replacing Kitchen Cabinet Handles

I’ve been thinking about updating our kitchen recently, but as I’m happy with the cabinets and work surfaces I wanted to do something simple. Remembering back to all those tacky DIY shows on TV I decided to swap out all the old handles and replace them with something a bit more suited to 2008.

The Old Kitchen Handles

Replacing them couldn’t have been simpler (after I’d found the ones I liked and made sure the screw holes matched up..!) and after an hour (I had 18 to do) I felt as though I rejuvenated my kitchen!

My New Look Kitchen

If you’re wondering what I did with the old handles, well as you know Milk and Honey are keen to recycle so they’re up for auction on our ebay shop.

A Question of Priorities

Yesterday I was having a look at what the High Street has got on the market for us on the bed linen and towels side of things (this passion runs through my blood and I don’t seem to get away from it ever…).Well I must admit that some of them look absolutely lovely but when you start approaching the products from closer you realise that most of them are made in the Far East and if you look even closer or dare touching them they feel harsh, which saddened me.
I was somewhat disappointed and surprised at finding out that these rough cloths were actually made of 100% cotton. From the touch, I could have sworn that there were man-made fibres in these fabrics but I was wrong. All these shops, (I will be polite enough not to mention them) charge the same prices as Milk and Honey for (excuse my French) selling a lot of crap to prioritise profits…
You could say to me “Well you are biased”, I will reply to you saying “The thing is, it is not easy to be authentic”. Why? Simply because we are genuine about our goods – when we say it is good quality and very soft we mean it. We have chosen the best raw materials that nature has given us and the best way to achieve it by the weave or grammage etc that human being has developed. We are passionate about what we do so we mean what we say. When we tell you our goods are made within the European Union, we know that it has not been made up by children or under horrendous conditions. Of course we could have chosen profits over caring but we made a priority to care first and deliver the best we can to you without compromise. You could say to me that I am naive and silly because isn’t it what business is about, profit? I will answer simply: “Yes we have to make a living of it but not at any cost and not without giving a lot of thought to what we do and the people we affect”.
We are simply true to ourselves and follow a dream with passion and gut feeling, that’s all and that’s quite simple…

Milk and Honey old duvets and pillows: biodegradable and good fertilizer for your flowers!

We like to recycle as much as possible that’s why we thought it was important to use natural fillings and casings for our duvets and pillows to offer a solution when the lifespan of our product is coming to an end.
As Milk and Honey feathers or down bedding articles are 100% natural, and as feathers are an excellent flower fertilizer, your worn out Milk and Honey products can (believe it or not) be easily be buried in the garden, unlike synthetic pillows or duvets which will sadly end up as landfill.
Its always hard to let go of your favourite duvet or pillow, but at least this way you can pass on the Milk and Honey goodness and see the benefit year after year in your garden.

Tip 1: Fluffy towels

There is nothing worse than coming out of a lovely long shower or bath, only to find your towels are as coarse as sandpaper!

For my towels to be extremely fluffy and cosy, I personally wash them with a non bio washing powder or gel, use a tiny amount of fabric softener (but not too much as it will glaze the towel cotton loops with a coat of silicon-like substance which will reduce therefore the absorbency of the towel). Then I dry my Milk and honey Waffle towels on the line and when they are almost ready I put them in the tumble dryer for 5-10 minutes on a low heat to give that little extra softness and downy feel.
Et voila! Pure delight…

Why Milk and Honey? I wanted to add a little goodness to your life for your pleasure to sleep well and to live well. The idea grew from a dream since I was 16 years old to start my own business and it never left me ever since!
Being a Parisian and having a passion for textiles that runs in my family from mother to daughter and adoring interior design, modern art, photography (Robert Doisneau), poetry (Jacques Prevert) and most of all humankind, ( I would like to thank my Mum and Dad for all these gifts!) it felt natural to create my own label. I was inspired by my favourite artists and beautiful stories that touched me throughout my life.
My husband is blaming me for loving nice products (ok, luxury products!), after all I can still justify having spent €120 on a Prada keyring which is a timeless piece of beautiful perfection and craftsmanship. I love something “special” about anything or anyone, is that a bad thing?

This love for perfection and humankind made me develop this passion for quality over quantity. That’s how Milk and Honey was born. I wanted to create style and luxury in your home without the conscience so my philosophy would be to be a responsible business towards ethics, the environment and quality.
Classic Style Silver FinishMilk & Honey offers gorgeous cotton satin bed linen with a smooth and velvety touch, fluffy cotton towels, naturally filled duvets and pillows, refined table linen and an adorable range for your little ones. All our goods are made from natural fibres and made within the European Union because as a company we pride ourselves in being responsible and caring for humankind, nature and quality. Milk & Honey have sourced exceptional raw materials for all our goods to ensure craftsmanship and perfection – something that is becoming less and less attainable in today’s global marketplace.
But without my so supportive husband Matthew (I have been mad enough to start whilst just having had a little daughter!) and without all the belief and faith from all my family and friends, I would probably not be here right now…
I really really want you to start enjoying the finer things in life like I do – sharing is one of the best kept secrets to happiness…
