Crikey, doesn’t the time fly? We’ve been so busy beavering away on the Milk and Honey store that we neglected our poor little blog for a while. It’s in need of some TLC so what better way than showing off some of the new items we’ve got in stock for you now.
First up is our fantastic Wooden Union Jack Bunting, at £17.95.

What could be more perfect for the Royal Wedding on April 29th than dressing your home with this stylish and chic set of bunting? Forget the tacky plastic bunting you can buy anywhere, stand out from the crowd with this 2 Metre long wooden set. Once you’ve celebrated the wedding of William and Kate they will look just as cool in a bedroom or even a kitchen.
Next up is our vintage Dairy Fresh Milk Print, at only £9.95.

We’ve got this up in our kitchen ourselves and it’s perfect if you are looking for that little bit of vintage country chic that’s all the rage right now. We’ve hung it up next to a couple of bunches of dried lavender tied with a ribbon to finish off the look.
Lastly we have our Wicker Magazine Rack at £34.95.

Love this item here at Milk and Honey, and in fact we have one in the ‘chill out’ area of the office. Strangely enough it’s packed with the latest interiors and lifestyle magazines which means the staff here never get a chance to switch off, even when they are on a break ;-) . With 2 large sections there’s plenty of room for magazines, books or newspapers and it can attached easily to a wall or cupboard.
Right, well that’s enough to start with and I promise it won’t be so long before I give you the next update. In fact we’ve got some really exciting things coming up very soon so watch this space.

Our Sea Urchin Tea Light Holders have proven to be this years “must have” seaside interior accessory. Not only have they been featured in several magazines over the last month, we were pleased to see that they even received a TV feature on ITV’s This Morning today!
“Room to be Proud” puts interior designer Danielle Proud (clever eh?) on the spot in an attempt to bring a room back to life with a box of 5 clues from the homeowners and 24 hours to come up with the goods! In today’s feature it was her job to transform an un-loved box room into a nautical themed living space for a couple from Essex. Not the simplest of tasks, but she made a savvy choice by picking our Sea Urchin Tea Light Holders to give the room a finishing touch.

We have to agree that the room turned out pretty good in the end, and the couple seemed very pleased with the outcome. Considering some of the reactions that we used to witness on the
BBC’s Changing Rooms, that’s no mean feat!

We love America. Hot dogs, light beer, Hollywood… what a country.
To celebrate all things American our friends at Company Magazine have included The Milk and Honey Stars and Stripes Bunting in their online feature on the latest USA style to hit the UK.

At only £13.95 this 100% cotton, 6m long bunting adds a unique touch to a boys room.
You could even add our Blue Star Cushion Cover (don’t forget to add a cushion filler) to finish the look and really go for that American feel good factor!

It’s the 4th year we’ve spent Christmas in Giens, and every year we’ve stayed in the same house. It’s a beautiful 2 storey house designed and built in the 1950′s. It’s full of interesting angles, colours and different materials.
Our 2 Storey House in Giens
On sunny days I love the way the light cascades along the veranda into the open plan living room. The house is built to endure very hot weather, but there is something about the winter light that just creates a beautiful setting.
The Veranda
The other benefit of coming here in the winter (apart from the lack of crowds) is that we also get to enjoy the inside of the house, something we wouldn’t do if it was 30 degrees. We’d just be sat around the pool instead!

Not being bowled over by the way our fridge looks (despite being in top condition) and this area of the kitchen in need of a little TLC, I feel there would be little justification at all (apart from the pure esthetical point of view ;-)!) to get rid of it and buy something a little more up to date.

So I have been looking for clever alternatives which would not cost the Earth but brighten things up a bit.
In my search, I stumbled across this designer called
Kodu Design that do supersize digital prints in vinyl or canvas for walls, cupboards door, fridges, appliances, laptops etc… It was exactly what I was looking for!
Halfway There
I must admit that I was a little apprehensive and scared of sticking it on my fridge with only myself to trust… Anyhow after taking my time and following the detailed instructions step by step, it is totally easy and fuss free. Fridges are not the simplest of shapes to cover, but with a little time and perseverance I think I did a pretty good job!

It is great fun and it looks stunning, the effect is perfect and has rejuvenated this otherwise dull corner of my kitchen. I would recommend it highly, now my tumble dryer next in need of TLC, so I think I am going to order one for it too..!
Job Done!
I’d love to hear if any of you have used this simple solution to revamp a room, so please send me your comments and pictures and I’ll stick them up on the blog!
Have fun! x
With so many towels on the market nowadays, it’s important to make sure you spend your money in the right place. Gone are the days when “one towel suits all” so to help you make the right choice, Milk and Honey has developed this handy Towel Buying Guide to assist you in your purchase.
“We shall base our definition of a good towel on its softness, absorbency, on its ability to dry quickly and finally on its longevity. What you should consider for your towel is first of all the feel – a towel should be plush, fluffy and feel soft to the touch…”
Happy towel hunting!

Buying the right pillow to suit your needs is fundamental to a good night’s sleep. However often it is treated as an afterthought by many people.
In order to help you choose, we’ve come up with this handy
Pillow Buying Guide which will help you make an informed decision and ultimately lead to a refreshing nights sleep..!
“Choosing a pillow is subjective and depends on each individual needs and with so much choice, buying a pillow can seem quite difficult. A pillow is used to support and cushion the sleepers head and the prime qualities to look for in a pillow is resilience. The wide range can make it difficult to choose so here are the keys you must know before you choose:”
There’s a lot more than meets the eye to buying the correct Duvet to suit your needs. It’s not just a simple case of grabbing the first one you see.
Over on the Milk and Honey site, we’ve written this handy
Duvet Buying Guide to help you out.
“We cannot ignore the fact that a good night’s sleep means more energy for the next day and has a positive influence on performance. Choosing the right duvet is therefore essential. However selecting a duvet is not always easy as there are so many options available nowadays. A duvets primary aim is to retain the body’s temperature independent of the outside temperature.”

Straight in at Number 5 is a “Comfy Pillow”. According to the BBC:
“Pillows now come with almost as much science as hair conditioner. And there are versions with in-built speakers to play sleep-inducing sounds such as a heart beat or soothing music.
This would not have impressed the Elizabethan writer, William Harrison, who attacked the young men of the 1580s for being so soft that they used pillows to help them sleep. In his day, real men slept on wooden logs or hairy sacks. Allergenic or non-allergenic sack, sir?”
Well I’m not sure about in built in speakers, but getting the right pillow is essential to a good nights sleep. That’s why at Milk and Honey, we offer a fantastic selection of pillows designed to suit everyone. Whether you like soft and shallow or plump and firm, we have it all.
All that pillow talk has made me sleepy….. night night everyone x
