Easy first growing success for allotment

Being a young Mum, running my own business, being a wife and having the house to run still is a daily gymnastic! I am learning to master the art slowly but surely. Not having a lot of time and sharing an allotment plot with one of my friend meant that I wanted to make the most of it.
You will tell me that I must be mad because where will I find the time? Well the answer is simple it does not take me too much time, I was looking for getting the best out of my first year and discovery journey of growing my own vegetables and fruits. I did not want to feel disheartened (as I really don’t need this at the moment) so I thought to go to my local gardening and pet shop and seek advice. I then decided to only go for the easy options with veg that would grow effortlessly and would give me great results and rewards and it has worked miraculously!
As a cheaper option I opted to purchase seeds that I could scatter in the ground without fuss. I waited For May to arrive before seeding (as earlier, the ground is still quite cold and it might be more difficult conditions for the seeds to develop). The other alternative is to buy plugs plants already a little grown for you but I personally think it is expensive. Otherwise you can grow your own plugs and then plant them for some varieties, it is the best survival option, I personally wanted a fuss free and less time consuming way and it worked so if I can do it, anyone can do it. It is a lovely feeling to be able to eat your own grown veg and it is so interesting to learn every time something and getting a little better hopefully each time…
The easy options that are working so far! Fingers crossed:
-French Radish (seeds) = great, already eating them -Lettuces (seeds) = great as well
-Herbs (chives, parsley, sage and mint) (seeds)= growing nicely
-Sugar snap peas (seeds) growing nicely (So far!)
-Nantes carrots (seeds) growing nicely
-courgettes (plant) growing nicely
-strawberries (plant) fruits not ready yet
-raspberries (plant) fruits not ready yet
-redcurrant (plant) no fruits yet but growing well
-Pumpkin (plant) = got totally eaten… so just planted another one. We shall see ;-)

My brother in law Neil is taking part in the Asics 10k London Run on Saturday 6th July. Neil has chosen Epilepsy Bereaved as his charity which is something very close to both our hearts.

I’ve added a widget on the left hand site of the blog so you can either donate or keep an eye on how he is doing.

Good luck Neil!

Thanks a million to the editorial team of Period house magazine who featured our splashy marine Sucre Glace classic style Blue finish in their July issue. It looks fantastic!

This white bed linen embellished with a gorgeous deep turquoise blue bourdon does give a great first taste of summer to the bedroom, a little bit like a first dip of the feet in the Sea…

Simply fresh and so invigorating!

We would like to thank Homes and Antiques for featuring us in their July issue!
They featured our sleek and modern silky feel Sucre Glace Contemporary Style Bed linen and it looks fabulous!

For warm summer nights, I recommend our Milk and Honey fine and natural cotton satin sheets that will keep you cool and comfortable. Because cotton is a natural fibre, it is gentle to the skin as it will enable it to breathe. Did you know that to achieve Cotton Satin, it does not need any use of chemicals, that’s the weave that creates the trick! We chose the satin weave as it will feel incredibly silky and smooth to the touch. What better way to sleep than the natural way…

It seems always difficult to find quirky shops with a lot of treasures to discover, different from the High street. However, I was walking through one of these lovely quintessentially Cardiffian arcades and found an oasis for fashion, accessories and gifts called Lunacy Boutique.

Becky is always attentive to you and makes you feel totally at ease and warmly welcomed. This is so refreshing and so nice!

Lunacy boutique sells gorgeous trendy fashion and accessories. I fell in love with the “Vanessa” dress which is simple and well cut easy to wear yet incredibly fashionable, a must have for an everyday dress. The beautiful glitter bow hairclip is another product to add to the list, so cute and finishes off effortlessly an outfit!
If you do not live around Cardiff, do not worry you will not miss out as Lunacy boutique is selling online as well, my little sister loves it so much that she orders on the net from Paris! Magic!

Hommage a Yves Saint Laurent

I feel terribly moved by the sad news today. Being a Parisian and loving Haute couture, I have to say that Yves Saint Laurent was an Icon.

He has revolutionised the fashion for women by introducing us to wear trouser suits and trenches inspired from military uniforms, he was a pioneer of his field and a genius in obtaining the utter femininity through these manly style of clothes. Inspiration came from what was happening on the street and also came from cultures across the globe: caftans from his North African childhood were one of his favourite; and safari-inspired clothes, Russian peasant tops, Spanish gypsy skirts and Chinese silk jackets, a total revolution for the Haute Couture world!
Saint Laurent was the one transforming Haute-couture by creating a more wearable and popular designs which gave birth to the “prêt a porter”. In 1966, his Rive Gauche store became the first ready-to-wear boutique opened by a couture designer.
